Rafael "Rafa" Rodriguez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 12, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rafael "Rafa" Rodriguez, who left us far too soon on June 1, 2025, at the age of 53.

Rafael was born on August 8, 1971, to Jose and Oralia Rodriguez in Santa Maria, California, and was raised in Nipomo, where he spent the first 25 years of his life. He later made Santa Maria his home, alongside his beloved wife, Elisabeth Barragan Rodriguez. Throughout their marriage, they created a home filled with family, meaningful traditions, and lasting memories, raising their three beautiful children - RheAnn, Rafael Jr. "RJ", and Raymond - who meant the world to them.

A man known for his generous spirit and good nature, Rafael was a well-known member of his community. Whether it was barbecuing at local fundraisers or making tacos to support a good cause, Rafael gave freely of his time and talents. He was a proud supporter of local high schools, Little League baseball, and many nonprofit organizations, always putting others before himself.

Rafael had a special way of making everyone feel welcome - he never met a stranger. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and friends, whether cheering from the stands at his children's sporting events, camping under the stars, enjoying Dodger games, or spending sunny days at the lake. His famous BBQs and carnitas gatherings were more than just meals - they were celebrations of the heartfelt connection he had with his friends and family.

He also had a lifelong passion for classic cars, a love he shared with many of his family and friends. Over the years, Rafael proudly owned and restored several classic vehicles, which he often displayed at car shows along the Central Coast. His attention to detail and dedication to maintaining his cars reflected his pride and craftsmanship - each one a reflection of his character and care.

Professionally, Rafael was the proud owner of Aztech Concrete Construction, which he started approximately 20 years ago. His creativity and passion for his work helped his business thrive, and he was especially proud to work alongside his sons. He poured his heart into everything he built, and that same heart has left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Rafael is survived by his loving wife Elisabeth, and their children: RheAnn Rodriguez, Rafael "RJ" Rodriguez Jr., and Raymond Rodriguez. He also leaves behind his cherished dog, Dior; his parents, Jose and Oralia Rodriguez; his sister, Laura (Mike) Rubio; his brother Roberto Rodriguez and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren who adored him.

Rafael's presence, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed, but the love he shared will live on in the countless lives he touched. The outpouring of grief and love from the community speaks to the powerful impact he had. His legacy and spirit will continue to shine through his family and all who had the honor of knowing him.

Services and a celebration of his life will be held as follows:

Viewing: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Rosary to follow at 6:30 PM
