He was born on December 16, 1945, and spent his formative years in Philadelphia, where he received his education at St. Barnabas Grade School before graduating from West Catholic Boys High School in the Class of 1963.
A proud Navy veteran, John served his country during the Vietnam War, embodying a spirit of service that never left him. He leaves behind a family that reflects the depth of his love and devotion: his children, John J. Ellis, Jr. (Christine), Christopher Ellis (the late Lisa), Gregory Ellis (Debra) and the late Candace Ellis. John was also a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren.
