Robert "Bob" Eugene Gordon Jr., 85, passed away at home after a rapid battle with cancer on the Lord's Day, November 10, 2024.
Bob was born August 12, 1939, in Chicago, IL to Robert Gordon Sr. and Ethel Gordon Garner.
Bob graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1957. He then attended Ball State University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in 1961 and a master's degree in 1965. He married his high school sweetheart and forever love Ann Nance on June 4, 1961, at Omega Christian Church.
Bob started his teaching career in Noblesville from 1961-1966. He then furthered his career by serving as a teacher and Principal at Tipton Elementary from 1966-1989. From 1989 until his retirement in 2001, Bob was the Principal at Hamilton Heights Elementary School.
Bob was a beloved baseball coach and mentor to many young men. Bob's Omega Christian Church Family ordained him as an Elder on April 13, 2014. Bob was an avid sportsman. He played baseball, basketball, and golf, trained and hunted bird dogs, fished, fished, and fished some more! He enjoyed spectating these sports along with Cubs games, Masters Tournaments, Colts games, and racing. Bob was also an avid reader and historian; he loved books almost as much as fishing. When Bob wasn't dedicating his career to the betterment of our youth, he would spend time on the farm or in the garden. Most of all, Bob was an involved, loving, leader of his family; and the most genuine friend one could have.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Ann (Nance) Gordon; Sons, Robert Kip (Diane) Gordon of Vevay, IN, Edward Trent (Heather) Gordon of Arcadia, IN; Daughters, Nancee Dee (Paul) Crouse of Cicero, IN, Angie Lou (Neal) Fine of Noblesville, IN; 6 grandchildren, Josie (Grant) Achenbach of Cicero, IN, Sophie Scott (Josh) Brinkman of Cleveland, OH, Orion Gordon of Cicero, IN, Adeline Gordon of Cicero, IN, Anna Fine of Noblesville, IN, Sky Gordon of Arcadia, IN; 2 great-grandchildren, Otto and Lally Achenbach; brothers, Bill (Joan) Gordon of Frankton, IN, and Jack (Sandy) Gordon of Cookeville, TN; Stepbrothers and Sisters, nieces and nephews of the Russell Garner family.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Cicero Christian Church, 1715 Stringtown Pike, Cicero, IN 46034.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Cicero Christian Church, Cicero, Indiana with Pastor Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Arcadia Cemetery in Arcadia, IN.
