Robert "Bob" Ross was a loving husband an amazing father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. He graduated from Hillsboro High School class of 1962 and joined the US Navy shortly afterward where he proudly served onboard the USS Rupertus-DD851 working in engineering and stationed at Yokosuka, Japan. The destroyer toured Vietnam, Taiwan, the Philippines, and supported the Gemini IV space flight mission and then later docked in Long Beach, California in 1966 where he met and married his wife Maria (nee Gomez) Ross. They later moved to El Paso, Texas where he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad. And then returned to Missouri where he retired from Chrysler. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, sports, and game shows and was a member of UAW, and VFW. He was a caretaker to his wife after she developed Alzheimer's and cared for her until her passing in 2020. He was an incredible family man who was always there for the children of all his siblings. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
We will be holding a Celebration of Life for both our parents Robert and Maria Ross on June 21 from 2pm-6pm at the VFW, Cedar Hill, MO. Please join us and share your memories of our parents.
