Robert Paul (J L) Whitaker, age 83 of Decatur passed away February 11, 2025 at his residence. A native of Buffalo New York, he is the son of the late James and Catherine Whitaker. Robert is preceded in death by a son, Robert Michael Whitaker; Older brother, James Charles Whitaker, survived spouse Mary Whitaker; Younger sister, Susan Marie Malone, survived spouse Bill Malone. He was a loving Husband of 62 years and an amazing father to four children. He was employed at MOOG INC. in Buffalo NY for 30 years and entrepreneur of many interests his entire life. He was also a devoted member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors:
Wife of 62 years, Rhoda Ruth Whitaker; Son, Jeffrey Thomas Whitaker of Buffalo NY; Daughter, Lynn Marie (John) Doyle of Lindale TX; Daughter, Julie Ann Suarez of Niota; Grandchildren, Samantha (Mike), Jeffrey, Ashley, Jacqueline, Mia Leticia, Adam (Lauren), Ryan (Sarah), Joshua, Lydia and 4 Great Grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, February 17, 2025 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church with Father Orr Officiating. The interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-6 PM Sunday February 16, 2025 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
