Ronald S. Alexander, 82, of New Castle passed away the morning of March 10, 2025 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born in New Castle on August 26, 1942, Ron was the son of the late Stanley and Anne Gentsy Alexander.
On October 10, 1970 Ron married his beloved wife, the former Theresa Gabriel. Theresa preceded him in death on April 2, 2022.
In the early years Ron worked as the Director of Code Enforcement for the City of New Castle. He then worked as a Paralegal for his longtime friend, Attorney Joseph Valentino. He had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army doing three tours of duty in Vietnam as a Para Trooper. Ron also served in the Army National Guard.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church. Ron had always been an avid sports fan. He started out playing football and was a stand out for New Castle High School as their Full Back. He then played for the University of Maryland and finished his collegiate career at Oklahoma State University where he played with Walt Garrison. Ron had been inducted into the Lawrence County Hall of Fame. He served for many years on the New Castle Area School Board. A loving father and grandfather, Ron's world revolved around his family and time spent with them, especially his four grandsons.
Ron is survived by his two children, Tracy Yeropoli (Vito) and Kristie Miller (Tony), his sister, Barbara Wildauer (Tom), four grandsons, Anthony Miller, Dominic Miller, Vinny Miller and Vito Yeropoli and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ron was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Joseph Alexander and brother, Wayne Alexander.
Visitation will be on Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Service of Incense will be held at 5:45 on Wednesday at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. for a Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church. Father Hanna Karam will officiate.
Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Rites at the cemetery on Thursday.
