Obituary of Scott D. Bernstein
Scott D. Bernstein of Port Jervis died unexpectedly at home on July 5, 2025. He was only 49 years old.
The son of Donald and the late Nancy Bernstein, he was born on February 12, 1976 in Cortland, NY.
At just 15 years old, Scott started swinging hammers in the construction industry, helping build homes across Westchester and Orange County. When not on job sites, he chased adrenaline on ATV trails or tinkered with RC cars, racing them with the same intensity he brought to every pursuit. But his proudest project wasn't made of wood or steel-it was building a better life for his children and grandchildren. Scott measured success not by what he built or had but by who he raised, dedicating himself to ensuring they had opportunities he never did. Though his hands were calloused from labor, his heart remained tender when it came to family-the only foundation that ever truly mattered to him.
In addition to his mother Nancy, Scott was predeceased in life by his brothers Robert and James "Jimmy James" Bernstein.
Husband of Gina Shipman. Father of Alivia Bernstein (Travis Quick), Nancy Bernstein and Scott Douglas Bernstein II. Cherished grandfather of TJ, Louis, Carter, Gianna and Scott Bernstein III. Son of Donald Bernstein. Brother of Donald Bernstein Jr and John Bernstein.
A private cremation will take place at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, please contact the family about memorial services.
Arrangements entrusted to Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home of Port Jervis, NY.
