GALVESTON Steve Lavon Martin age 61 of Galveston died Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services are 11:00am Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Elder Tom Gillam, III officiating. Burial will follow at Barbours Cemetery in Hitchcock.
Steve was born November 5, 1963 in Galveston, Texas to Tom Robinson and Mary Martin. He was a member of the Ball High School class of 1981. After high school he began his career in Galveston working as a laborer in Landscaping, Plumbing, Construction and the Cotton Compress. He was a talented musician and could Rap any lyric. Steve was a fun loving and giving person that will be truly missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joe Martin. Survivors include his son Steven Smith, Sr.; daughter Latoya Thorn; sister Alfreda Martin Alex and husband Curtis; brothers Tom Martin and wife Paula and Glenn Martin; grandchildren Steven Smith, Jr., Armani Butler, Tru Smith, Sevyn Smith, Brandon May, Laila Smith, and numerous other grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Tom Martin, Glenn Martin, Dayton Martin, Deon Collins, Steven Smith, Sr. and James Jackson.
