Terry Joseph Smith, 68, of Forney, TX, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Terry was born in Denison, TX, to Dudley Leon Smith and Alice (Betty) Elizabeth Smiers on June 8, 1956. He graduated from Denison High School in 1974. Terry met the love of his life, Beverly Jenkins Smith, while working at Tom Thumb supermarket, and they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. He retired from the United States Postal Service after many dedicated years of service.
Terry's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He cherished every moment mentoring them, attending their extracurricular activities, and celebrating their achievements. His love and support were a constant source of strength and inspiration for his family.
Terry also had a passion for travel, creating countless memories with Beverly and their dear friends, Mark and Regina Chenevey. His adventurous spirit, combined with his wonderful sense of humor, touched everyone who knew him.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Jenkins Smith of Forney, TX; his son, Brian Ray Smith of Little Elm, TX; his daughter and her husband, Whitney and Jacob Huffman of Forney, TX; his bonus daughter and her husband, Megan and Jason Quillin of Wylie, TX; his granddaughter and her husband, Zoe and John Kuykendall of Irving, TX; his grandsons and best friends, Jayden Allen, Zayn Quillin, Caden Allen, Gavon Jackson, and Ryker Huffman; and his sisters, Sandra Lehner, Barbara Byerly, and Alice Gouge, all of Denison, TX; Anita Stephenson of Sherman, TX; and Robbin Fox of Kemp, OK. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley Leon Smith and Alice (Betty) Elizabeth Smiers, and his brother, William Thomas Smith.
Terry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and laughing with him. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
