Thomas James Long, age 75, of Aurora, formerly of Hudson, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025. Tom is the beloved husband of 51 years to Kathleen M. (nee Yurko); devoted father of Jennifer (Tim) Dudash, Scott (Molly) Long and Jeffrey (Halley) Long; cherished grandfather of Jacob, Rebecca & Katherine Dudash, Howard & George Long, and Havannah & Harper Long; loving brother of the late Nancy Eberhart and Phyllis Mitchell; dear uncle, great uncle and brother-in-law.
Tom was raised in East McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Wilmerding High School in 1967. He continued his education at Youngstown College, earning a bachelor's degree. Following graduation, Tom embarked on a career in sales, working for several companies over the years. His work led his family to live in various cities, but Hudson was the place where Tom felt most at home.
Tom had a deep passion for baseball and spent many years attending the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Despite his dislike for the heat, his love for the game was unwavering, and he could enjoy watching it in any kind of weather. As a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Hudson, Tom dedicated 13 years to managing and organizing the Kiwanis Summer Baseball program. In recognition of his outstanding service, Field A at Barlow Farm Park was named in his honor.
A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Tom's life will be held 4-6PM THURSDAY, MAY 22, 2025 at Busch-Romito Funeral Home, 19 E. Main Street (on the square), Hudson, OH (330-650-4181). In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Tom's name to the Hudson Kiwanis Club Baseball Program, P.O. Box 554, Hudson, OH 44236.
