Tom E. Taylor, 87, of Searcy passed away on July 3, 2025, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Conway. He was born on Aug. 13, 1937, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to the late Thomas Claude Taylor and Anna Joyce (Banks) Taylor.
At the age of 17, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from June 14, 1955, to July 30, 1959. He later retired from the Federal Aviation Administration on Dec. 31, 1994, after 38 years and 10 months of service, working as the supervisor of the Navigation/Communication Unit in Amarillo, Texas.
Tom enjoyed fishing and watching old westerns in his spare time. Tom was a devoted husband, father and family man. Tom was a longtime member of West Side Church of Christ in Searcy and enjoyed singing traditional church hymns with his strong bass voice.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Glynda Fay Taylor; children, Terry Preston Taylor (Sheri), Donald David Taylor (Lynette), Robert Charles Clanton and Sharon Lynn Taylor (Mark Richardson); brother, Danny Max Taylor (Yvonne); as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Suzanne Thomas and Linda Goossen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 12, at 11 a.m., at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be held privately with family at White County Memorial Gardens.
