Walter J. Funk

Walter John Funk, 78, of Irwin, died Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He was born June 13, 1947, in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late William and Mary (O'Brian) Funk and was also preceded in death by siblings Dolores Diemert and Lawrence Funk. Walter was a retired manager of marketing analysis for the Eaton Company and also had worked for Westinghouse Electric. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Walt was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Herminie, the Moose Lodge of Irwin, and the Norwin Elks. He enjoyed all types of woodworking and enjoyed 39 cruises with his wife Martina. He is survived by his wife Martina A. (Nehrig) Owens Funk; children T. J. Owens (Mary) and Tina Mandella (Jim); his grandchildren Marti and Nick Mandella; nieces and nephews; and his fur babies Percy and Herman. Friends and family will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, in St. Edward Catholic Church.
