Wayne H. Longenberger, 77, passed away on March 9, 2025 at WellSpan York Hospital.
He was the husband of Lucy Marie Longenberger, his wife of 50 years, who passed away in 2018.
Born on January 7, 1948, in Berwick, PA, Wayne was the son of the late Edward & Elma Longenberger.
Wayne is survived by his children, Rodney Longenberger; Melissa Gingrich (Timothy); Kelly Jones; Christopher Longenberger (Kacie); Jeremy Longenberger (Ashley); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, Wayne leaves behind a brother, Edward Longenberger (Gerry) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
In his younger years, Wayne enjoyed success on the football field. Growing up a country boy, he enjoyed the outdoors and riding his horse, which was the mode of transportation for his first date with his future wife, Lucy. Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending his Saturday evenings at the local sprint car track. He was also a member of a weekly bowling league for several decades, where he formed lasting friendships that he cherished throughout his life.
Wayne was an electronic controls engineer for most of his adult life. Prior to his retirement, Wayne was the owner of STS Solutions.
A time of remembrance and visitation will be on Friday, March 21 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the John W. Keffer Funeral Home, 2114 W. Market St. York. The service will begin immediately following the visitation at 5:30 p.m.
