Wesley "Terry" Grant Turner, age 79, went to heaven on April 11, 2025, surrounded by family. Terry was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, a proud Vietnam War veteran and dedicated Marine, who loved his country and served it with honor. His legacy of service will be honored at his funeral, which will be held at Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Following the service, he will be laid to rest with military honors at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Terry was born on March 2nd, 1946, in Baldwyn, MS, to the late Arthur and Dorothy (Hutson) Turner. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Renn and Arthur Jr. and brothers-in-law, Sammy Robinson and Rodney Smith.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sharon Turner, his devoted daughter, Amanda (Tom) Turner Marks of Richlands, NC, and his son, Kevin (Crystal) Grant Turner of Jacksonville, NC. He is also survived by his cherished sisters, Lynn Smith of Chattahoochee, FL, Dawn Robison of Guntown, MS, Holly Nelson of Baldwyn, MS, and his grandchildren, Brandon Turner, Jenna Turner, Sterling Marks, and Chance Blackwell.
Terry was known for his passion of restoring old cars, a hobby that brought him endless joy and acclaim. He also had a great sense of humor and loved cracking jokes, always knowing how to bring a smile to those around him. Whether under the hood of a classic car or sharing stories of his time in the service, Terry will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, country, fellow veterans, and making others smile.
The family will receive friends before the funeral service on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Jones Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Terry's memory to The Wounded Warriors Fund or Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
