William "Jeffrey" Brown, affectionately known as "Jeff," was born on June 5, 1959, to the parents of Mrs. Edna Yelity Brown and the late William A. Brown (father) in Norfolk, VA. "Jeff" left his earthly life on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Chesapeake Regional Hospital from a tragic car accident.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Mrs. Edna Yelity Brown (mother), Senta Brown (sister), Shon L. Hinton (Brother-in-law), Estusei Matthews-Stewart (sister), Anthony Gibson (brother), Billy McClean (Brother-in-law), Ernestine and John W. Brown (Aunt and Uncle), all from Norfolk. Jeff has a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and close friends.
The following family members preceded him in death: William A. Brown (father), Alonzo Brown (brother), and Nellie Yelity McClean (sister).
While born in Norfolk, VA, Jeff went to live in Littleton, NC during the early years of his life with his loving paternal grandparents, (the late) Mrs Hattie Bell and Mr. Nance Brown, for the majority of his childhood and teenage life. He received his formal education at Vaughan Elementary School in Vaughan, NC, and Littleton High School in Littleton, NC.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and joined Pleasant Zion Baptist Church in Littleton, NC, where he attended Sunday School and Church services faithfully. He later joined the Youth Choir before moving back to Virginia.
Jeff worked briefly at two businesses in Norfolk, VA, before his disability diagnosis. Throughout his life, his love for family and friends was endless, selfless, and priceless. Although he never married and had any children of his own, the love of family was deeply engraved in his heart. Ms. Edna was the "apple of his eye". He faithfully called her daily to check on her and hear her voice. He loved and cherished his late father, his siblings, his late paternal grandparents, and his surrogate sister, Betty Jean. Jeff could be very strong-willed, but his temperament always remained intact. He was kind, humble, gentle, quiet-spirited, and harmless.
During his early life, when he was in better health, he enjoyed life to its fullest potential. He loved music, dancing, playing cards, TV, movies, and most of all, fried chicken. For many long years, he suffered through cognitive issues, physical challenges, and several serious illnesses. Jeff seldom complained about the obstacles that he faced in life. He fought a good fight and ran a good race. He was a champion who pressed his way through to the finish line. We all salute you and say farewell until we meet again. Rest easy in the loving arms of Jesus.
