William R. Meyer passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Bethel Point Healthcare in Muncie following a long illness.
He was born on May 11, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, a son of the late Glen and Catherine (Thomas) Meyer.
Bill served in the US Army in Korea on the DMZ. He was the owner of Meyer Flooring, Inc. for over 30 years and had installed flooring in many homes throughout Henry County. He liked to say he had worked in every state. Bill was a hard worker and taught his work ethic to many people throughout his life. He loved people and loved to laugh. Bill had many loyal friends.
Bill's pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed family get-togethers and had hosted many hog roasts that included his extended family. Bill was a true optimist throughout his life. He embraced each new day with enthusiasm and never complained even in later years when his health was poor.
He liked a good game of Euchre or Yahtzee and beating his wife unmercifully in their favorite dice game, "You Blew It."
Bill's memory will be cherished by his wife, Cathy; their children, Shayne Meyer (Tamara Day), Heather (Doug) Hudson, Heather Sampson, Jennifer Baker, and Brian Baker (Amy Cooper); grandchildren, Haley Hudson, Eli Hudson, Taylor Meyer, Collin Meyer, John (Megan) Sampson, Josephine Sampson, Abram Baker, Jessica (Patrick) Bose, David Johnson, and Elizabeth Johnson; brothers and sisters, John (Suanne) Meyer, Sandy Courtney, and Barbara Rogers; two sisters-in-law Erin (Ken) Murray and Patty Meyer, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Meyer, Thomas Meyer, Glen Meyer Jr., Charles Meyer, and Howard Meyer, and a sister, Doris Baker.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Miller Cemetery in Middletown with Pastor Jack Hannum officiating. Military funeral honors will be provided by contingents from the US Army, American Legion, and VFW.
Following the service, a dinner to celebrate Bill's life will be held at the Civic Center, 529 Locust St. in Middletown. Memorial contributions may be offered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, or the Animal Protection League in Anderson, www.inapl.org.
