Charles Mullen Obituary

Mullen, Charles G. Jr.

A lifelong resident of Tampa, FL, Charles Gordon Mullen, Jr. passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at the age of 104. Devoted to his faith, family, and community, Charles was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for over a century. Educated in Tampa and later at Sewanee Military Academy and the University of the South, Charles served honorably during World War II with the United States Army. He returned home to become an active civic leader, involved in many Tampa institutions including the Tampa Yacht Club, Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, and The Chiselers, Inc. Professionally, he led The Florida Grower Press and later worked in sales at Hillsborough Printing Company. A master woodworker and accomplished watercolor artist, Charles earned numerous awards for his craftsmanship and creative work. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 79 years, Virginia, and is survived by three children; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A service celebrating his life will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Tampa The Chiselers, Inc. or a charity of your choice.
