Diane Spaulding Obituary

Diane Spaulding, longtime Arlington, Virginia resident, died at home on March 18, 2025. She was 77 years old. At Diane's side was her beloved husband, Peter Spaulding, and her devoted Boykin spaniel, Montgomery Meigs— Monty. Diane was born in Manhattan and grew up in The Bronx, New York. She attended the University of Toledo, and would go on to work for Sports Illustrated and then Time Life Books in their marketing department. Later she was a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, League of Women Voters, and other small non-profits. As a youngster, she saw the original production of "West Side Story" inspiring her devotion to musical theater and dance including taking lessons with the Arthur Mitchell Dance Company. After moving to Washington in 1976, she danced in several community theater productions in Northern Virginia. Diane was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church on Lafayette Square in Washington, DC. Most of all: she was known for her kindness to people and animals. Diane was a gentle spirit, a light to those of us lucky enough to know her. She will live on in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Planned Parenthood. Funeral Service: 11 a.m., April 11, 2025, St. John's Church, Lafayette Square, 1525 'H' Street NW, Washington, DC 20005.
