Audrey A. Mitchell

Audrey A. Mitchell, 88, of Stroud Township, passed away Monday evening, May 26, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital - Monroe Campus. She was the widow of Ted L. Mitchell with whom she shared 61 years of marriage at the time of his death on February 14, 2019. Born on April 27, 1937 at home in Stroud Township, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Gertrude (Von Broock) Albert and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. Audrey attended Loders (a one room schoolhouse) on Chipperfield Drive and Clearview Elementary and then graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1955. She began working at Wyckoff's Store and then Bell Telephone where she was an operator and service representative. She then retired to raise her family. Audrey was active in the Morey Elementary School PTA, and the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and later part of the Mary Circle. She was a member of the Sun Bonnet Sue's Belles during the Centennial. While both her daughters were in Girl Scouts, she volunteered as "Cookie Mother" for many years. She also spent many years as secretary for the Victorian Tea Committee of the Monroe County Historical Association. She worked with her daughter, Lee Anne, at the Flattering Footman for awhile before working with her husband, Ted, at Mitchell's Market until they retired in November 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Lee Anne Sebring and husband Dan of Winter Garden, FL and Lynda Williams and husband Floyd "Chip" of Stroudsburg; three grandchildren, Taylor Sebring of Winter Garden, FL, Audra Williams of Stroudsburg and Adam Williams of Hellertown; a sister-in-law, Sue Carol (Mitchell) Gartner and husband Gerhard Gartner; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, C. Barry Albert and wife Virginia and Harold S. Albert and wife Pauline. As per Audrey's wishes, there will be no services.
