Daniel Brennan Obituary

Daniel Edward Brennan, 54, of Rosemont, PA, beloved father of Wes, passed away on March 3, 2025.
He was the 9th child and the best looking of 10 born to Theresa Brennan of Villanova, PA and the late Daniel J. Brennan of Chicago, IL.
Dan is survived by his son Wes, who was the light of his life, and his loving mother Theresa. He was the beloved brother of Joe (Julie), Sheila, Kevin (Zuly), Tom (Joan), Mary (the late Bob) Calkins, Anne (Scott), Peter, Nora (Steve), and Neal. Dan was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews, a dear friend, and nephew and cousin to many.
Danny B, as he was fondly called by his siblings, attended St. Francis Xavier & Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL.
In Dans sophomore year of high school, the family moved to Villanova where he attended Archbishop Carroll. He excelled on the baseball team as a catcher and wrote for the school newspaper, the Carroll Times. He found his passion for acting and made lifelong friends at Fordham University in the Acting Training Program. After graduating from Fordham in 1993, he moved to Manhattan and continued honing his craft in the Meisner Technique at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in NYC.
He spent his early adult life in New York City working as an actor and bartender. His acting, which included film, television and stage, later took him to Los Angeles and Chicago.
Dan was a founding member of the Willow John Theater Company, a member of Love Creek Theater Company, acting in countless plays, including three critically acclaimed:
The Great Sebastian - The Actor Forum, Los Angeles
The Incident - The Next Theatre, Evanston, Il Nominated for Best Ensemble Jeff Award
Catch 22 - The Chopin Theatre, Chicago
Dan was very athletic, a student of any game he played, whether basketball, baseball, golf, or poker, a lifelong baseball fan, and an avid biker. He could be seen riding around whatever town he called home and once completed the 275-mile Northeast AIDS Ride. He was well traveled, well read, a talented actor, an organic, creative chef and a passionate guitar player. He enjoyed all types of music and arts and sharing his interests with others. He thrived on discussions of philosophy, art, music, theology, health, & politics.
Dans proudest role was as Wes dad. He and Mr. B., as he affectionately called Wes, spent hours exploring Chicago parks, museums, farms, agriculture, riding the CTA, and cooking their own special creations at home. Dan was happiest when he was with his son. He loved his family and friends deeply. He was sweet, outgoing and kind to all.

I was a friend of Dan's at Fordham. We always had fun when we hung out. He was proud of his family and told me about having 9 siblings which seemed crazy in 1990 even at Catholic school. I didn't know he was an actor, but I remember him as handsome and funny. Wishing all who love him, especially his son and his siblings my deepest condolences.

I was so sad to hear of Dan's passing. Dan was my grade school classmate at St. Francis. Though it's been a long time, since I saw him at our last reunion, I have such great memories of growing up with him in our small class. I´m thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. I hope the love and support of those around you bring you comfort.

We are saddened by the loss of Danny and send our condolences and thoughts.
Never say with grief, "he is no more" but rather say with
thankfulness "he was"
May you find the strength to go on.

The last time I saw Danny was two tears ago at Griffin's surfing contest in San Clemente.
As was usual every time we met, he was gentle, kind and funny.
No words can express the depth of sadness his loss causes.
May we all manage our grief over his departure until that grief turns into fond memories of his kindness, friendliness and winning smile.

I remember being in New York with my mom around the age of 13. Dan met us to take us to one of his favorite restaurants. I think it was a Persian restaurant. He got me to eat a beef heart for the first time. But I remember he made me laugh a lot and his energy and smile were very contagious. Leaving me with a lasting impression. I never really spent time with him again after that but I have a vivid memory of that lunch. I´m sorry for everyone´s loss. I hope the family can find peace. I´m sure he´ll be looking after all of us. I love you guys

Brennan Clan:

this is heartbreaking to read. DB was a one of my besties from our Wilmette days. Fondly remember his brother Tom getting us into the old Chicago Stadium to watch Blackhawk games since he worked there as an andy frain; riding the el with brother Neal to Wrigley and giving his sister Nora grief as she was friends with my friend's sister. Spent a boatload of time at 1010 Chestnut back in the day. Having lost a sibling myself, my heart goes out to all of you.

Peace.

Dan Brennan worked at Landis in Wayne in high school. He was one of the nicest kids that we met over the years. We became good friends. When he moved to Ny and came back home he would always come back to see us. My sister and I were in Chicago and. Went to a play he was in.. he had the greatest smile that lit up the world. We wish the family condolences!!! May his memory be eternal! The Landis family Jim , Greg and Ra

Dan was a bartender at the SoHo Grand when I was his barback, but we became friends and formed a sort of guardian angelship. We never lost contact in 20+ years. There are those connections out there who you send random texts to every 3 years, pick right back up where you left off, make some plans, and then check back in whenever it makes sense . I´ll continue checking in with him for what it´s worth.

These memories will always live and burn like an eternal flame in my soul. You are never forgotten, and forever appreicated, for everything you have done for everyone you love. I love you Danny.
