Richard Smith Obituary

Richard C. Smith of Pottstown, Pa, passed away on June 13, 2025, at the age of 88. Born January 14, 1937, to the late Warren Royer and Margaret Schultz (nee Wisler), Richard was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Ann (nee Miller) Smith; loving dad of Robin Hynes (Brian), Richard L. Smith (Kathy), Kim Kunz (John), and Joyce Funk (John). Richard was also a father to his niece Linda Owad (David) and his nephew Mark Smith. Richard was a cherished Pop Pop of Leann (Andy), Grant (Cara), Amanda (Jeff), Jesse, Kelsey (Carson), Jonathan (Alichia), Benjamin, Stephanie (Aaron). Very proud Poppoppop of Colbie, Mason, Emery, Bennett, Kendall, Carsyn, Oliver, Kieran, Conor, Skylar; dear brother of Margie Moore, loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wonderful wife, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, Warren Smith, Mary Johnson, Ruth Grisdale, Shirley Miscioscia, Durrell Smith, Kenneth Smith and a granddaughter Nicole Hynes. Richard (aka Dick, Pop, Smitty, Elvie) was a hard-working family man who was proud of his 40+ years at Penco Products in Oaks, Pa, and his electrical business. He built upon skills he learned from Rich Casselberry when he was a teenager. His incredible work ethic provided his family with a prosperous life and a beautiful home in Graterford, Pa. Even after retiring from Penco, he continued working as an electrical contractor and was able to enjoy retirement by taking his wife, Shirley, on amazing vacations and cruises from Alaska to Egypt. He hosted huge 4th of July parties remembered by many for the grand presentation of all the best food, drink, and family joy. Richard's kindness and generosity was experienced by everyone he met, in his work, in his family, by his beloved lifelong friends. He was loved by all who knew him. Rest in peace Pop. Relatives and friends are invited to Richard's Life Celebration on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 9 to 9:50 AM, followed by his funeral service at 10 AM at the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton 200 W.
