Helen Tanholdt Olsen Richardson Yates, 81 FREDERICA, Del. -- Helen Tanholdt Olsen Richardson Yates, 81, of Frederica, Del., died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, unexpectedly, in her home. She was born on Oct. 4, 1926, in South Portland, the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Hansigne Olsen. She was a graduate of Gorham High School and was employed for over 40 years at Sears Roebuck & Co. She was a Past Matron of Pine Tree Chapter #27 O.E.S. in Gorham, member of St. Ansgar Ev. Lutheran Church in Portland, and St. Andrews Ev. Lutheran Church in Dover, Del. She was also a member of Frederica Senior Center and participated in their choral group. Helen had traveled through the States, most of Europe, Iceland, New Zealand and Tahiti. Helen was widowed by Harold (Scoot) Richardson and later married George Yates and moved to Delaware, where she has lived the past 12 years. Her husband George; two brothers, Svend and Frank Olsen and her parents, preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Donald A. Richardson and wife Diane of Seminole, Fla.; three grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Olsen Berry and husband Richard of Bridgton; nieces and nephews; and also cousins in Hillerod, Denmark and Peru. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, Del., where friends may call after 12 p.m. Burial will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
