URBANA – Frank Richard D'Urso, 82, passed away at 2:25 p.m. on July 25, 2007, at his Urbana home. There will be a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007, at Owens Funeral Home (101 N. Elm St.) in Champaign.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (708 W. Main St.) in Urbana, with Father Joe Hogan officiating. Burial will be private.
Frank was born on June 3, 1925, at Burnham Hospital in Champaign, a son of Vincent and Jennie (Mascari) D'Urso. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Frank at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Nov. 24, 1945. She survives and resides in Urbana.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sons, James R. (Beverly) D'Urso of Champaign and Steven J. (Pam) D'Urso of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren, Megan and Kimberly D'Urso of St. Louis, Mo., and Vincent D'Urso of Champaign; one sister, Lucille Busey of Urbana; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Joseph D'Urso.
Frank was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Urbana. He has been a lifelong fisherman and is a member of the Pollywog Fishing Club. Frank also enjoyed bowling and played football at Urbana High School. He was in the Navy during World War II, where he spent two years in the Pacific. After the war, he worked as a shoe cobbler, but spent the majority of his life as a carpenter building homes in the Urbana area.

Although I have lived in Georgia for nearly 20 years, I still follow news via the News Gazette and am saddened by the death of Frank. Stay strong and lean on Jim and Steve for support. Hello to both of them as well. I am sure I speak for the rest of the Powers kids as well.
