She was born in Reading on March 4, 1954, to James Copeland Sr. and Louise Terry-Copeland.
She was a graduate of Reading High School.
She worked many years in Reading at Penn Optical and then with the handicapped in Conshohocken. In 1986, she left Reading and moved to Norristown, Pa., with her three children. In 1990, she moved to Conshohocken, where she lived until God called her home.
In her spare time, she loved to shop, eat, listen to music, play jokes and talk on the phone. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She loved to travel to Boston, Mass., to visit her four grandsons.
She loved all of her grandchildren and shared a special bond with her grandson, Xavier, who shared a spirit much like hers. She helped to care for him as a baby and helped him to develop into a promising young boy.
Ann was full of life, laughter and love. Ann had the spirit of a fighter and the heart of an angel. Proud of her partial Cherokee heritage, Ann fought for others and against all odds she helped to make the world a better place.
She was a true mother, grandmother, daughter, niece, sister, aunt and friend. She will continue to be all of these things because "Death ends a life, not a relationship." Her strength, her spirit and her passion for life will carry on through all of us and the many that she touched.
Ann Copeland against all odds was the true definition of a hero. On Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, Ann went home to be with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory three sons: Dominic Copeland, and his wife, Shanin Middleton-Copeland; Chatton Copeland; and Willie Cooper III; four beautiful grandchildren: Alexander, Xavier, Gabriel and Elijah Copeland; her father and mother, James Copeland Sr. and Louise Terry Copeland; her two sisters, Ruby Copeland-Batts and Juanita Copeland; one brother, Randolph Copeland; two half brothers, Willie and David Rauch; five special nieces: Sherrell Copeland-Harris, Shenaque Jackson-Anderson, Divika Copeland, Ivy Copeland and Shadena Copeland-Natty; uncles; aunts; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
She will be joining her three brothers in heaven: James Copeland, Willie Copeland and Eddie Copeland, and her sister, Deborah Copeland-Jackson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Auman Funeral Home, Reading. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. www.theocauman.com

Dear Shanin, Dominic and Family,
Having only known you since your time on Glidden Street, we never had the pleasure of meeting Dominic's mother. However, both Aileen and I are painfully aware of the sense of loss that comes from losing a parent. Our thoughts and prayers are still with you during the grieving process.
It's nice reading all the wonderful things that others have said about Miss Ann, and seeing her in the photos with your boys.

I will truly miss my sister, Ann. She was always such a joy and pleasure to be around. We would talk for many hours at a time on the cell phone. I know that she has gone to a better place where the streets are paved of Gold. She is now free of pain. Ann is in God's kingdom with her brothers and sister preparing a place for all of us.
