Helene Rosenberg

NEW BEDFORD — Helene (Kauffman) Rosenberg, 77, of 329 Maple St., New Bedford, died April 29, 2007 at home. She was the wife of the late Jack Rosenberg.

Born in Providence, RI, a daughter of the late Hyman and Sarah (Frank) Kauffman, she had been a resident of New Bedford for 56 years.

Mrs. Rosenberg was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.

She was a past president of the Jewish Professional Women's Club and was an active member of Tifereth Israel Congregation, working on various synagogue committees. She was also a member of the National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah. Mrs. Rosenberg took great satisfaction in her work as a tutor for the adult literacy program of the New Bedford schools.

She is survived by her children, Robert Rosenberg of Chicago, IL, Ellen Wolynec of Fairfax, VA and James Rosenberg of Framingham, MA; her sister, Ethyle Ludwig of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and her grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Sam and Jillian. She was the sister of the late Jordan and Everett Kauffman and Charlotte Lerner.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 30th in Tifereth Israel Congregation, 145 Brownell Ave., New Bedford with burial in Plainville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Tifereth Israel Congregation. Shiva will be observed at her late residence Mon. 7-9, and Tue. 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The family was assisted with their arrangements by SUGARMAN-SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPEL.
