Carol Raye (Davenport) Riggs died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Highland Manor in Mesquite, Nevada.
She was born September 22, 1924 in Parowan, Utah to Horace Miller and Cora (Bryant) Davenport. She married George Robert "Bob" Riggs on November 7, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
They spent their early married life traveling with Bob's job in the Air Force. She was in California, England, New Jersey and Texas before he retired. Along the way they had 5 children. Three of whom survive her.
Carol was a kind, loving person and everyone thought highly of her. Along with her own children she helped with raising her nephews and babysat for others wherever she was. She was the epitome of a good mother and housekeeper. Her home was always immaculate and there was always a good meal on the table for whomever stopped by.
She is survived by her children, Sherida Raye Childers of Anderson, South Carolina; Timmy Robert Riggs of Las Vegas, Nevada and Susan Ranay Veach of Boise, Idaho; one grandson, Sean Brennan Veach of Boise, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Rula Cash; and one brother Horace Bryant "Bud" Davenport; two sons, Tommy Robert Riggs and Terry Randall Riggs.
Graveside services will be Friday, February7, 2014 at 12 Noon in the Mesquite City Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.virginvalleymortuary.com
