Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. at the Angel Funeral Home Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Glad Tidings (2700 Northland Dr., Austin, Texas 78756) Burial: Assumption Cemetery Charles Anthony "Billy" Acosta On July 8, 2011 at the time Billy needed the Lord the most, the Lord was there to carry him home. Richard Lewis, Charles' brother-in-law is quoted as saying "His family cried the day he died for Billy Bob Cat. But where Billy's at he's driving fast, not a care in the world. And I can see the wind a blowing through Billy's long dark hair." By trade Billy was a gifted craftsman in upholstery. By heart, he was a true warrior living up to the truest meaning of the word. He fought his long hard battle with brain cancer for 22 years amazing his doctors with his courage and strength, so much so that they nicknamed him "9 lives". Preceded in death are his maternal grandparents; Rafael M. and Theresa (Gamboa) Calvo, his paternal grandparents Felix and Jacinta (Ojeda) Acosta. He is survived by his son Brandon Michael Acosta, daughter Lauren Ashton Acosta, his loving parents: Guadalupe O. and Rafelita (Calvo) Acosta, brother Ralph (Lou) Acosta, sister Diana (Richard) Lewis, brother Gene (Sheryl) Acosta and a very large extended family. Due to his devoted parents and loving family Charles was able to spend his last years at home in warmth and comfort. Billy was born on June 26, 1961 and spent his formative years in South Austin. At the age of 15, he started working in his family upholstery business. He truly loved being around the entertainment business, he tried acting and being a stuntman even appearing in a few Westerns. It was at this point in his life in which he began working with Willie Nelson during his first Farm-Aid event. There are so many facets to his personality that he acquired many infamous nicknames, including the well-earned "Chief Golden Eagle" The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate and loving care provided by the nurses of the 4th floor at St David's Medical Center. The family would also like to personally thank Dr's. Punit Chadha, Anat Patel, Padmavathamn Pathala, Karunaker Annapureddy, and Sami Aboumater for their exceptional care extending above and beyond the call of duty. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Yolanda Anthony for her expert and loving care to Charles and the entire family. Yoli became much more than a caretaker, she became a true member of the family whose warm smile and tender touch was both welcomed and trusted. Yoli has been a true comfort to Acosta family in this time of grief. Visitation and prayer services will be held at Angel Funeral Home (1606 South 1st Street, Austin, TX 78704) on Monday July 11th from 7-9pm in the large chapel as well as Tuesday July 12th from 8-9:15. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Glad Tidings (2700 Northland Dr. Austin, TX 78756) @ 10 am on Tuesday July 12th. Burial services will be immediately following church services at Assumption Cemetery located at 3650 S. IH 35 Austin, TX 78704 Honoring Charles as pallbearers are Brandon Acosta, Ben Calvo, Ralph Acosta, Richard Lewis, Matt Acosta, Craig Lewis, Zach Acosta, and Chris Miller.
