KENNETH BURNSIDE PAULIN JULY 17, 1915 JULY 5, 2006 With sadness and love the Paulin family announces the passing of Ken Paulin at the Village of Tansley Woods Nursing Home, Burlington in his 91st year. Married to his loving and devoted wife Jeanne Eleanor (nee Laidman) for nearly 60 years. The loving and devoted father to James F. Paulin and Elizabeth 'Beth' A. Paulin; Caring grandfather to his much loved grandchildren James K. Paulin and Dawn E. (nee Paulin) Baker and husband Jason, and greatgrandchildren Severen Paulin and Tessalynn Baker. Remembered by daughter-in-law Marlene Paulin and her children Heather Kerr and Amanda (nee Kerr) Weare, her husband Kurt and their son Ethan. Loving brother-in-law and uncle to the 'Brown Family', Mary Jane (nee Laidman) and her late husband Alan, nieces Carolyn (Gary), Nancy (Gary) and the late Suzie, his nephew Craig (Sue) and their 2 children Stephanie & Katie. Son of the late F.W. Paulin and Winonah (nee St. John) Paulin. Brother of the late Dr. Cameron Paulin and the late Margaret Tedford. Caring uncle to Donald Tedford and wife Beth, the late Gael Tedford and great uncle to Cameron and Martin Tedford. Born in Hamilton educated at Central High School and McMaster University. His career commenced with Great Lakes Concrete Pipe Ltd.- - Director of Sales, 1938-45; American Tobacco Co. 1942, numerous projects at Defasco, Stelco, McMaster University, St. Joseph's Hospital, Royal Botanical Gardens, Canada Trust and more. Ken served in the 2nd World War with U.S.A.F., 1942-45 as Staff Sergeant; after war service McQuay Norris Manufacturing Co. Ltd., 1946-50. From 1950, as elected Director, appointed as General Manager, Director 1956 and then as President from 1957 until 1990 at the Company his father, F.W. Paulin, founded in 1914, Canadian Engineering and Contracting Co. Ltd. The Company's motto became 'we work with pride,' which epitomized his dedication and integrity in the profession. Memberships: Scottish Rite (30 years), Advisory Board, Canada Perm. Trust, Chamber of Commerce, Hamilton Art Gallery. Past President of OFCA: Ontario Federation Construction Association, HCA: Hamilton Construction Association, OGCA Ontario General Contractors Association,Kiwanis Club Inc. Hamilton, Metropolitan Board Hamilton YMCA (1972-74 & 1989),Hamilton Golf & Country Club, where he was an avid golfer for many years, Hamilton Club, Hamilton Thistle Club, Hamilton Tiger-Cat Quarterback Club, Chairman of the Board Central Presbyterian Church (1968-69). Recipient of OGCA/H.D. Clohecy Award for his time and energy devoted to the betterment of the Construction Industry. 1997 inducted Construction Hall of Fame. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive, (next to the Royal Botanical Gardens) BURLINGTON (905-5270405) on Monday, July 10, 2006, from 12 noon until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 pm. Private interment, Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton. Reception to follow in the 'Solarium Room' at Bay Gardens Funeral Home.
