Marilyn CRONYN Obituary

MARILYN CRONYN Marilyn died on Saturday, Octo ber 20, 2018 of complications from Parkinson's. She bore and fought this illness with incredible bravery for twenty years. She re fused to be defeated or defined by her illness and was always cheerful and positive. Marilyn was strong yet beautifully gentle. She grew up in London, Ontario, and was educated at Havergal Col lege, Neutchatel, Western and U of T. Her career straddled social services, advertising, marketing and food nutrition. She was en trepreneurial and successfully de veloped her own line of hand painted children's furniture. She loved to travel. And yet at the cot tage on Georgian Bay, she found the home where she was com pletely happy. She spent as much time as she could in the garden, on the beach, kayaking, swim ming and enjoying the sunsets with absolute calm contentment. The cottage was her joy, as were her children, Megan and Hamish, her husband Jake, her family and her very close group of friends. For such an unassuming woman, Marilyn touched the lives of ev eryone she met. She gave love in countless ways. Our hearts are broken, but she would wish for us to remember her strength and kindness and keep each other close. There will be a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., on Wednes day, October 31st, at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, 44 Price Street, Toronto. Because Marilyn was such a bright light in our lives, colourful clothes would be appre ciated. For anyone who wishes to make a contribution in her honour, a donation to Parkinson's research would be welcome. Either to Parkinson Canada (www.parkin son.ca) where research is ongo ing or to Parkinson's UK (www.parkinsons.org.uk) for their work on changing attitudes to wards Parkinson's disease.
