Our Thoughts Are With You
The tide recedes
but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down
but gentle warmth still lingers in the land.
The music stops
and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains.
For every joy that passes
Something beautiful remains.
Susan
Ron, Rick, Michelle, Larry, Jennifer, Karen and your families
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. We have many fond memories of Ivan.
A special note to Michael, we know you and your grandfather had a special bond and we're sending love your way.
Love,
Wayne, Debbie, Dylan and Sharon Walsh

I have been on several trips to Europe with the Regiment and of course Ivan.
Beyond the sunset there is hope for a brighter tomorrow
Beyond the sunset there is healing for a heavy heart
Beyong the sunset there is PEACE.
Death leaves a heartache
Nothing can heal
LOVE leaves MEMORIES
NO ONE CAN STEAL

On behalf of RCL (Queen's Own) Branch 344 we extend our most sincere sympathy to the Family on their loss. Ivan was a Member of 344 for a number of years and also our Membership Chairman. We shared many stories and lots of dances. When he moved out of town he always found the time to drop by the Branch for a visit when he was in Toronto visiting Family. I have fond memories of time spent with him as well as other Members who knew Him. May he Rest In Peace. President, Executive and Members of RCL Branch 344.

Ron and family, Rick, Michelle and Alan, and Larry and family: My sympathies on the loss of your father.
I have many found memories of your dad in Guildwood with Cathy and up at McDonald's Corners with his own dad, later during our various visits, and at social events with Susan.
Ivan welcomed first me and then my parents wholeheartedly into your family, and we stayed in touch periodically almost till the end. I was always touched by his ability to find Jewish holiday greeting cards (not so easy in Fort Erie!) for us long after leaving Toronto.
To me, your dad seemed happiest in the throes of learning a new skill after he retired, or planning a new trip, the further or more exotic, the better, especially if another language or golf was involved. I also remember him as a consummate host, and natural toastmaster. When called on to give a speech, he'd expertly dodge controversy or family politics, and leave everyone laughing. And when he chuckled or gave a belly laugh himself, it was hard not to join in.
Finally, I can't recall Ivan without mentioning his pride in this country, respect for the those in front line military service, and his loyalty to his Legion brothers and sisters.
The last couple of years were difficult ones for him health-wise, but I hope he is now in peace, perhaps sitting on a barstool in the sky, swapping tales with new buddies. I will miss him.
