Jeff Huber Obituary

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel downtown. A celebration of life will follow at 1453 Essex Circle in Anchorage.

Mr. Huber was born June 26, 1955, in Detroit to John and Barbara (McNair) Huber. He graduated from Seaholm High School in 1973. He received a bachelor's degree in geology in 1978 from Lake Superior State College in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and a master's degree in economic geology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1988.

He married Carol Sue Parret (Langworthy) Dec. 27, 1988, in Troy, Mich.

Mr. Huber was a geologist for numerous minerals companies in Alaska between 1978 and 2006. Besides the Red Dog Mine, he worked for Fort Knox Mine, Alaska Gold Co., Tri-Con Mining, Fairbanks Exploration Inc., Echo Bay Exploration, Placer Dome and more.

Mr. Huber was a property manager for Bonanza Reality in Anchorage from 2002 to 2004. He accepted a position at Red Dog Mine in February 2004.

Mr. Huber was a member of the Alaska Miners Association and was a staunch supporter of the mining industry.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, hiking, adventure traveling, racquetball, strength training, and playing with his step-grandchildren.

His family wrote: "Jeff's fun-loving and generous nature was an inspiration to his family. He lived life to the fullest."

He is survived by his wife, Carol Huber; stepdaughter and spouse, April and Erik Odegaard; two step-grandchildren, Alex and Angel; stepson and spouse, Kenneth Langworthy and Angelique Garnand, all of Anchorage; father, John Huber of Troy; and siblings and their spouses, Joy and Tom Durham, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Tom and Ava Huber of Lincoln, Neb., Dennis Huber of Waterford, Mich., Steve Huber of Hernando, Miss. Al and Nancy Przybylski of Troy, and Peter and Joann Huber of Sterling Heights, Mich.
