I Managed a night club in Atlanta for 6 years. Emory worked with me on the weekends, and visited me during the week on his patrol. I consider him one of my best friends and I will always remember him and miss him. As was said by others in this guest book, he was kind and never had a bad word about anyone He was a credit to the police department and to all that encountered him. I still cant except his death he was one of the best men I ever new and I am proud to have had the oppritunity to be a friend to Emory Munford. my deepest sympathy to his children he always talked of you and of his fiance. I'll see you again someday munf!

Being a new member to the Munford family, I just want to say "Thank you" Emory, Reina(Lisa), and the rest of the family for allowing me to never feel any time for distance or for the unknown. Thank you for the comfort of family that you have given me. The times that were spent with Emory and Reina will always be held close to my heart;
You never ask why;
so I know not to do,
but loosing someone great is so hard to work through.
But remember to trust in him and you will see the light.
So please be strong and continue to fight.
And always remember that you did not loose him, he is just preparing a place,
for all of us to see him again when it's our homecoming day!!

Deepest sympathy to the Munford Family, Office Emory will be truely missed He was a member of The Morehouse School of Medicine, Dept. of Pediatrics,IMANI Project's Community Advisory Board. His role was to address young student in the Zone One community regarding the use of Alcohol,Tobacco and Other Drugs at community youth outreach sessions, his performances were excellent as always he would bring the conversation to the level of the youth and what ever he discussed with the students were held in privacy, the students would truely open up to him and share some of their deepest secrets He will be truely, truely missed by the staff and students of the IMANI Project.
God Bless

To the Family....
I feel like I knew Emory because his cousin, Bridgette Rouland of Plainfield, New Jersey, spoke so dearly of him, and told me all about their childhood days together and the fun they shared. I can tell that Emory, brought a great deal of sunshine into many peoples lives, and for that, we can all rest assured that Emory, is sitting high on the throne smiling, when God said to him "My dearest Child, Job Well Done Emory, Well Done".
Our Deepest Sympathy,

It has been so many years since I have last seen or had contact with Coach. At four years old, Emory was my first soccer coach at Ft. Gillem, I think we were the Turbos, and Coach Munford made one of the biggest impacts of my life. That was the beginning of my soccer career. Although years have past, my family and I always remember those days and the Coach and friend that made my early childhood years great and happy. Your big heart, your big smile, and your impact on all children all ages will be missed, but carried on through the lives you have touched. We'll meet again.

To the Munford Family, thoughts and prayers from me and my family are with you. I was very fortunate to have this man be a part of my life. Such a positive influence. Such a role model. Such a happy and delightful soul. It was my privilege to coach soccer with Emory many years ago in Clayton County. My son, Michael, and I will forever remember and be thankful for the wonderful experience of learning what teamwork was all about, while having fun. And we will never forget the Turbos banquets where Emory would have so many gifts for the kids and myself. And that sums it up, Emory had so many gifts that he shared with others. We will miss you Emory, but your positive influence will go on.

Emory and I crossed path at my former place employment. He constantly wore a smile on his face. I, too, will miss those days when he walked me to my car after late practices and games, stopping cars for me during carpool to allow me to leave for games, and those friendly conversations during lunch. Emory was indeed a friend. I will miss him dearly.

Never in my life will I come across a more unbelievably caring, self confident and outstanding person than Emory Munford. I saw Emory everyday for the last two years of high school at Paideia. Whether he was directing traffic, sitting in the gym, lifting weights with the students, or just having a good time and talking with the basketball teams, he always had a smile on his face. He went about his life in the most professional yet extremely caring and social way possible. I found myself staying after basketball practices and games just to have conversations with him. High school students are not known to love policeman and for the most part don’t want anything to do with them. Emory was not that person. I wish everyone in the world had the same sort of loving personality and sense of humor as Emory. There didn’t seem to be anything about his life that he didn’t enjoy doing with all his heart. He genuinely cared about everybody he met at Paideia School, and made it his top priority to blend in and simply have fun with the kids and his peers around him.
Paideia was a better and safer place because of Emory. Some people just have the ability to make the world a better place little by little. Emory made sure to do that at Paideia and I’m sure he did the same everywhere else he worked. Nothing I say can bring justice to what happened to such an unbelievable man, and nothing ever will. Nothing I say can inform people that did not know Emory about the man he truly was. His actions and personality are too special and too unbelievable to be put into a few words.
Nothing about Emory will ever be forgotten, and everything that he did for Paideia will stay engraved in the student’s hearts and memories. I will truly miss him and although I will never physically see him again, I will never forget him in my heart!

To all of Emory's family,
I was a student at Paideia school who knew Emory very well, he meant so much to me and was an amazing man. There is so much to be said about Emory, too much too ever be put into writing, but i want you to know how much he affected my life, and how amazing he truely was.
There are no words that could ever describe Emory. Emory was such an amazing person in my life, and someone who I will never forget. However if I had to use one word to describe Emory it would be genuine. Everything that Emory said or did was genuine. Emory knew how to make any day better, how to make any basketball practice go smoother, and how to make any problem not seem so big after all. Emory only had to walk into the room and smile at me, and I instantly felt better about anything. He was interested in the lives of the students; he was not just a policeman keeping us safe. He participated in our lives and was always there for us, under any circumstances. Emory was the friend who would make sure I made it to my car after late practices when it was dark outside. Emory would always save me some of his famous sweet tea, because he knew I loved to drink it after every basketball practice. Emory would save me a parking space when I was running late to basketball games, or had tons of groceries for the snack bar. There are a million memories that play in my mind about Emory, and I am so grateful to have them to keep with me forever. I remember everything about the last time I got to see Emory, when I came back to Paideia after being evacuated for the hurricane in Miami. He sat in his truck as he always did, smiling and waving at every student that passed. He got out of car and came to give me a hug and made sure I knew how happy he was to see me back. Emory had the ability to make me feel so loved and so special. He genuinely cared about us students at Paideia and made sure to let us know that. There is not a memory I have in the Paideia gym that does not include Emory and every memory with Emory was a good one. I will miss Emory greatly but I cannot express how lucky I feel to have had the opportunity to have known him. I can honestly say my life at Paideia was better because Emory was a part of it. Emory was kind at heart, and seemed not only to do things simply because it was his job as a policeman, but because he really wanted to help people. It’s people like this that will never be forgotten. Emory will live forever. Immortality is achieved through children and through being remembered, not forgotten. Thus, Emory, in a sense, has become immortal, for no one will forget him and his kind nature, and the genuine man that he was. Again, I am so proud and grateful to have met such an amazing man.

Notice of Officer Munford's death was a bad blow to me -- his friendship and excellent performance of duty highlighted my Army Reserve service with him. His family must be feeling devastated at this loss. I wish them a sustaining sense of God's care and presence as they care for each other. I had lost touch with Emory for over fifteen years, but I well recall his good- spirited, cooperative, optimistic personality. He set an example of high competence, going well beyond minimum requirements, as we served in that remarkable, unique component of the 81st USARCOM: the 1188th Military Ocean Terminal Unit (late 1970s - mid '80s). Sergeant Munford was a vital member of the Provost Marshal's staff there, and he served with distinction, dedication, high ability, and good humor. He is one of the big reasons I enjoyed those years with the 1188th in the East Point Reserve Center.

I knew Emory years ago when he was a policeman all around Buckhead. He was always so friendly and never missed the chance to smile and say hi ~ even if he was driving by and saw me outside. He once pulled me over, not realizing it was me (his friend who always spoke to him) and he was so nice ~ and just gave me a warning and a lecture on "complete stops and why they are safe" and was friendly as always. He was known as the local Buckhead policeman ~ and was always ready and willing to help others. I haven't seen him in many years, but immediatly recognized him when I saw his name and face on tv. I was so sad to hear the news of his tragic accident and he will be missed greatly ~ as he was a great person/friend/policeman. He will be remembered forever.
