David Brown Obituary
David Lisle Brown returned back into the loving arms of the Lord on December 1, 2010 after a tragic fall on the ice as part of the management team of the Murray High Hockey Team. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and a great friend. As he passed through the veil, he was surrounded by his sweetheart and eternal companion, Michelle, his children, family and many dear friends.
Dave was born September 18, 1962 to Philip and Mary Ivory Brown of Murray, Utah. He graduated from Murray High and attended SL Community College. He married Michelle Schow, the love of his life, February 15, 1985. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple March 28, 1986. He was employed for 25 years by HWP and held a special place in his heart for every friend he worked with. His family, and everyone who knew him, will miss his constant care and unconditional love in their lives.
Dave was a faithful member of the LDS Church. He served a mission in Tulsa, Oklahoma and held many leadership positions. His greatest calling was the wonderful example he set by sharing his strong testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His heart opened up to every child who was blessed to know him, especially his grandson, Colin. Dave dedicated his life to coaching and managing every sports team his children played on. His family was his highest priority. He taught each of his children his motto: "Stick to the task 'til it sticks to you."
He is survived by his wife, Michelle; children, Kristopher (Libby), Madalynne, Parker (serving an LDS mission in the Dominican Republic) and Dakota; grandson, Colin; his parents, Phil and Mary Brown; brother, Mark (Jamie); sisters, Brenda (Bryan) Pett, Nancy (Kyle) Buist, Jenny (Reid) Mears, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8th at 12:00 noon at the Murray Utah South Stake Center, 5735 South Fashion Blvd. A viewing will be held at
the church Tuesday, December 7th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and staff in the IMC Shock Trauma Unit for their valiant efforts and compassion.

We are so sorry for your loss. Know that we are thinking of you and praying for you all. We remember Dave from Murray High and more recently when our son was on an All-star baseball team which Dave coached. He was always happy and showed loved to all around him. He made things fun. He will be missed by many, but has made us better by knowing him.

Brown family,
Dave was a good man. He was a good friend in High School. He had a heart of gold and he was a man of integrity. We're sorry we were out of town and didn't learn of his passing until Christmas Eve. During this holiday season his testimony lives on and we all know we will be with Dave again someday soon.

I didn't know Dave. I feel the lose as if I was his best friend. Dave thank you for the influence you had over so many young players. Thank you for the unselfish hours you spent doing it.

Michelle and family, Jenni and I were reminiscing about our memories of Dave. He was by far the best coach ever. When he handed out the trophies he had tears in his eyes! I didn't know Dave Brown, but I know several of the Murray hockey players and coaches. One of the players is on the travel team I'm coaching. This is such a tragedy that could have happened to any one of us involved in this sport. My deepest condolensces go out to Dave's family and friends.

I have been thinking about your family often during the past few days; my prayers are deep. I clearly remember meeting Dave at the beginning year cookout and he kindly answered questions for my son about ice hockey. My son really respected him. Dave always spoke to me at the games. He is genuine.

Living in the Hillside Ward and getting to know your family was such a pleasure. When I think of The Brown Family three things stand out. Your faith in the Gospel, your love and devotion to friends and family, and the love I saw between Dave and Michelle. It was so real and genuine. The two of you were such a wonderful example of what a married couple should be. I want you to know that I've taken that example and applied it to my own marriage. Dave was the first to teach me when I was hired by HydroAir in 1997. He was a great support to me and because of his help, my career flourished. Even after the sale of the company in 2008 and the formation of my own company, he still supported me. I played golf with Dave when I visited. He did not play as much as he would like, so our time was very special. I will miss him and he will be in my prayers always.

I was incredibly sad to hear the news of Dave's passing. I was the first to his side when he hit his head on the ice and I have thought about him non-stop since hoping for a quick recovery. I did not know Dave well but I have heard nothing but great words regarding him as a person, father, husband and mentor to the Murray Hockey Team. Thank you for sharing Dave with us for all those practices and games. He was my mentor as far as Coaching went, and taught me alot about the way a man should act. (No childish ranting and raving for Dave. And everyone plays all the time. It's not only about winning because the games end so soon. It's about teaching and showing kids how to act)
I took those lessons to heart as much as I could, all but the ranting part. I have enjoyed my friendship with an excellent man, he will be missed.

We are very sorry to hear of the loss of Dave. He was so good to us while we were in the Hillside ward. I served with him closely for much of my time while we were in the ward and can attest to his genuine love and concern for you and others he associated with. He always had a "can-do" attitude and willingly helped anyone in need. HIs love for Michelle and the kids was evident in everything he did. Ever since I heard of Dave's passing, I have been heartbroken. At church today (Park Ward) people bore their testimonies about Dave, and he obviously has touched the lives of many many people. Dear Michelle and family.
When my mother, Maurine Walker, told me of Dave's tragic passing last week I was so very sad. I remember the last time I saw you and Dave, we were at either a soccer or football practice at Riverview Park. You and Dave were always so nice and it was so apparent that you were so in love and that your family was everything you were about.
You and Dave were so kind to my grandson Brandon and also my son Michael who is Maddy's age. It is hard to believe that they are all grown up now.
It has been 11 years since I moved from Murray ward. But it will always seem like home to me.

This was a great man that we met while living in Murray Utah. He was a dear friend of my Brother and Sister in law. What a neat man, husband and father! He will be missed by so many!
