Meghan Flanagan Obituary

Meghan B. (Meig) Flanagan, 23, of Bradenton, passed away on January 4, 2013. A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday Jan 12, 2013 at 1PM. Meghan is survived by her parents Matthew and Eileen Flanagan; brother Matthew B.; Aunt Patricia Flanagan; Uncles Thomas and William Whittaker; grandfather Richard Flanagan and several cousins. Our beautiful daughter was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Flowers may be sent to the church or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Sarasota Suncoast Chapter. www.afsp.org

Know your daughter left a mark on this world. It's been over fifteen years since she was my student, but I still remember Meghan clear as day: brilliant, loving, generous in spirit, positive, expressive, open minded - a beautiful human being.

I remember being so in awe when you told me about roller derby that I had to try it for myself ;) I am so thankful to of met you. I was so completely shocked and saddened to read the news of Meghan's passing. I first met her when she was serving as a hostess at the restaurant in Ellenton... for the longest time, I came in every Friday evening to pick up a pizza. Meghan introduced herself to me the first day she started working there, and I quickly learned that she was an intelligent and unique young lady.

In the years that followed I would run into her when she was skating with the Bradentucky Bombers, and once in a while, at the library (where I work) in downtown Bradenton.

Though only saw her once in a blue moon, I will miss her. My sincere condolences to Meghan's friends and loved ones.

Dear Matt and Eileen...I remember moving here in 1994 and watching Meghan and Little Matt ride bikes and play on the sidewalk side with Britt and Jess, they always smile and waved and became like family when Krista used to babysit. Krista and Meghan worked at Applebees together up in the plaza and Meghan would hug me when I came up to visit Kris...Matt told me how happy Meghan was living her dreams of traveling when he replaced our AC unit. The stars that burn the brightest burn for the shortest time. This is so true of Meig. I am hearbroken that she is not in the world in person now although she will always he here in spirit, for such a bright spirit can never be extinguished. I expected and looked forward to many many times in the future when she would pop in to see Phillipe, with her "hello love!" and sit and chat about something she was doing or would do, because Meig was always doing something. She packed more experiences into her short life than most people will in a lifetime. She was the most special person. She was brave and undaunted, and funny, and kind and open and sweet and probably way too trusting. I am so, so sorry for the loss that her parents, family and friends are experiencing, I am distraught myself. God be with all who are grieving her loss. She wil always hold a very special place in my heart.
