Kenneth Pumphrey Obituary
Kenneth M. Pumphrey (Age 87) On Monday, July 20 passed peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice, in Tavares, Fl., surrounded by his wife and children. He is survived by his wife, of 65 years; Helen Theresa Esworthy Pumphrey; his children Kenneth A. Pumphrey, and his wife Linda of Virginia Beach, VA., Susan M. Pumphrey and her spouse John Ahrar of Potomac MD., James M. Pumphrey, Sr. of Deale Maryland, Mary Patricia Pumphrey Leisner and her husband Richard K. Leisner of Groveland FL. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Leroy, sister Shirley D. Pumphrey Miller; and parents Alvin L. Sr. and Dorothy E. McDonald Pumphrey. He is also survived by four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Gasch's Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD on Friday, July 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 10:30 a.m at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church 9700 Rosensteel Avenue, Forest Glen, Maryland 20910, Interment Saturday August 1, 12:00 at George Washington Cemetery 9500 Riggs Road, Adelphi, MD 20783.

I lost contact with Kenny and Helen when they moved, but they never left my heart. I just heard of his passing. Kenny was a great man, I enjoyed him being my "backyard neighbor" in Deale.

Helen, Trish and all the Pumphrey families. Love you guys. Listening to Kenneth's interview in 2013 with his security position at Los Alamos during 1946-1948. So much to know and be proud about this wonderful humble man. Always enjoyed being around him. Will miss him dearly.
