Joe Csiszer Obituary

November 23, 1931 - May 28, 2010
Joe was born to Hungarian immigrants in New Castle, PA. Joe Csiszer met the love of his life, Lori Abramski at a high school football game. They married soon after and had been joined at the hip ever since. Joe moved his wife and baby daughter to Redondo Beach in 1956 in search of warm weather and a better life for his family. He worked for Union Oil Co. where he started off in the pipeline division. He worked his way to foreman of the tank farm in Torrance, and retired after 33 years of service. Joe always stayed active in the community. He attended church at Hope Chapel, Hermosa Beach every Saturday night and was very passionate about Hope in Action, a program that feeds the poor every Wednesday. Joe will always be remembered by his servitude for the Lord and his kindness to all he reached. He and Lori always had open doors to everyone and anyone who needed a place to stay, a hot meal, a listening ear, a prayer or love. He was a father to all. If you needed help he would be there with the heart of a servant. For this we know he will be great in God's Kingdom. He lived a life of excellent character and loved the simple things: God, family, friends and music. He enjoyed camping, cruises, breakfast with the guys and was always ready to play a game with family and friends. He met his family every Sunday at Baycities Church in Redondo Beach. He leaves behind his loving wife, Lori of 57 years; brothers, Stephen and Alex Csiszer; sister, Elizabeth Holden; daughters, Lynn (Morris) Betty, Kimberly (Ron) Perry and Laura (Pete) Schwab; grandchildren, Candace (Kurt) Colomac, Kyle (Briana) Hubbard, Melissa (Colin) Campbell, Alison Schwab, Drew Hubbard, Jason Betty, Meghan Hubbard, Michael Schwab, Andrew Schwab, Stephanie (Scott) Lusk and Megan Perry. He passed away after a short illness at his home. His passing will leave a huge void in all of our lives. Although it is sad for us left behind, we know we will see him again in Heaven. Service will be Monday, June 7, 2010, noon at Hope Chapel in Hermosa Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope in Action Ministries, c/o Hope Chapel, 2420 PCH, Hermosa Beach, CA 90250. Papa Joe
Reaching for avocados in my yard or yours
Cheering for the Lakers they escaped with a win
So many holidays we feasted like kings
Sitting at church with your family intact
A honk from the horn....we headed back home
Too many weeks till I saw you again
I'll love you forever
Your true Dodger Blue

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Joe. My condolences to his family. I worked with Joe at the Union Oil Tank farm for several years and was surprised to learn he had stayed the 33 years. We spent a lot of time together in the pump station in the early sixties and I found Joe to be a really great guy. I have thought of him often and wondered what became of him. I only wish I had known he was still at the tank farm so I could have stopped and said hello.

Lori, I was saddened to learn of Joe's passing. God has rewarded him with the greatest gift -- a new life with Jesus. I remember you and Joe so well from Hope Chapel in the 1980's. I now live in Williamsburg VA. Blessings, love and prayers to you and your family.
