KYLE, Dorothy Gentry Dorothy Gentry Kyle passed away peacefully on Sunday September 14, 2014 in Allen, TX. She was born on October 18, 1929 in Huntington, West Virginia to Robert Sterling & Pearl Baker Gentry. She graduated from Huntington High School & attended Marshall University. She was married in 1947, and had a son, David, in 1949. She worked as an executive secretary at Houdaille Industries & as a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital. Dorothy moved to Texas in 1975 & resided in The Colony, TX. She was employed as an executive secretary at the chemical company Celanese Corporation until her retirement in 1999. She developed a love for history during childhood as she & her sisters traveled with her parents to historical sites around the Eastern United States. Her fascination with history expanded to include archeology & she was able to participate in several local digs. Dorothy dedicated her life to raising her son, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother & Sunday School teacher. She shared her love of history & science with David through trips to museums & historical sites during his childhood. In his teen years, their garage became the practice site for his rock & roll band. When Dorothy later became "Grandma", she responded with the same enthusiasm & devotion. Dorothy is survived by her son, David Sterling Hogan and his wife Rebecca Bird Hogan, her beloved grandson Jonathan & her "Doll", step-granddaughter Rachel. She is also survived by her sisters Elsie Copley & Elizabeth Geddis and their extended families.
