Vincent Vogel Obituary

He truly lived life to its fullest, hiking, cycling, canoeing & skiing throughout four continents; easily making friends along the way. Originally from PA, he moved to CO in 1969 & built homes for over 4 decades. With a free spirit & great sense of humor, he was compassionate, selfless & devoted to his family & friends. Vince was the MAN among mountain men! His strength and determination was legendary among his outdoorsy friends. He enjoyed solo adventures that most wouldn't dream of trying and when he was with a group, he always carried more than his share. I once invited him on a trip to the Jackal hut above Camp Hale. He didn't know anyone else in the group, but after a few days together, they were all saying "who is that guy" and 'let's bring him on all our trips, he does more work than anyone."
On a trip down to Havasupai Falls in the Grand Canyon, Vince befriended a native who had recently lost his ability to water his crops because a flash flood had wiped out the tribes ancient irrigation system. Vince helped the him order an electric pump and plastic piping to bring water from the creek. This was typical of Vince, he always took time to stop and talk to people on the trail, and he never knew a stranger.
Knowing Vince and hearing about his adventures and reading his blogs was one of life's outstanding pleasures. He is greatly missed!
