Born on July 6, 1995 to Tulio and Virginia Da Silva, Lara was the sister of Tatiana and Philip, granddaughter of Sotiria Papadopoulos and Marilene Da Silva, niece of Maria Moustakis, Terry Papadopoulos, Babis and Loukia Papadopoulos, Denise and Valeria Da Silva, Sophia Cote and Helen Bousios, and cousin of Leonardo Schmidt, Renee Bousios, Katie Cote, John Cote and Zoe Papadopoulos.
Lara graduated from Miramonte High School, class of 2013, received her associate's degree from Diablo Valley College and was completing her bachelor degree at UC Davis. She also worked as an intern at Formations Data Systems.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, October 28, 2016, 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 6401 San Pablo Ave., Oakland, and are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 29, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church. Light refreshments will be available following the funeral service at the church hall. Interment will be private.
Memorial donations in Lara's name may be made to a charity of your choice.

Dearest Gigi, Tulio, Tatiana, Philip and family...and most of all, Lara. So incomprehensible, this loss. We will always think of that sweet little girl who came to all the boys' soccer games. I think of her as always smiling with just a hint that she might be up to something. We wrap our arms around all of you, as you did for us those years ago with Scott. We hope you feel Lara's presence and a sense of peace and comfort always.

Dear Virginia, Tulio and family,
No one knows why bad things happen to those so innocent and whose life has hardly begun. For now it will have to remain the painful mystery that it is. Losses like this can make us challenge our faith; however, this is precisely the time when our faith needs to be its strongest.
I am praying that your faith will help you through this very difficult time. I pray that you will find the strength to get you through your grief and sadness.
In thinking about your loss, I would like to leave you with the oft quoted words of the poet Ellen Brenneman, We can't know why the lily has so brief a time to bloom in the warmth of sunlight's kiss upon its face before it folds into its fragrance and bids the world good night to rest its beauty in a gentler place.
