Marvin Poindexter Obituary

GASTONIA - Marvin "Marty" Poindexter, 67, passed away Sept. 28, 2010, at The Robin Johnson House, Dallas.

He was born August 20, 1943 in Gaston County, son of the late Marvin Matthew Poindexter Sr. and Connie Griffin Poindexter.

Mr. Poindexter was retired from A B Carter.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Mike Wilson.

The family will receive friends 7to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends other times at the home of Ken and Irene Poindexter, 922 N. Weldon St., Gastonia and also the home of Gina Poindexter, 1217 Allston Ct., Gastonia.

He is survived by: wife, Brenda Costner Poindexter; sons, Darrell Poindexter, Mark Poindexter; daughters, Sharon Estes and spouse, Scott Webb, Teresa Burke and spouse Jim Burke; granddaughter, Gina Poindexter; brothers and sisters in-law, Gene and Judy Poindexter, Kenneth and Irene Poindexter; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: a brother, Michael T. Poindexter.

Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Arrangements are with Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, Gastonia.
