Jeff was born in Bitburg, Germany and considered Austin, Texas his chosen home even though circumstances brought him to Sarasota. He made certain he went to Austin at least once a year to visit his many old friends and to 'go hear some music'. Jeff was a Military Brat; was himself in the Air Force; a protege of John Stemmons of Dallas TX; a law enforcement officer in Plano, Texas; vice-president of a security company and the Regional Sales Manager of The Print Depot. His most beloved gig however was his involvement in the Austin music scene as he was himself an accomplished guitar player. Jeff is survived by his sister Janet Brown of Sarasota, brothers David Brown (Terry) of Montreal, Quebec, Thomas Brown (Angela) of Valrico, FL. and his nieces and nephews Chris (Jodi), Jenny (Ken), Flannery (Jason), Aaron and Rebecca. His grand nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Jeffie are Kyle, Trip, Connor, Spencer, Kennedy, Addison, Gabriel and Russell. He is also survived by the child of his heart, Sara DeShong Baker of Dallas, TX, and his dear Gracie. Jeff was a gentle and good man with a ferocious heart who loved deeply and was loved in return.
There will be a memorial service Monday November 16 12:30 PM at the National Cemetery in Sarasota @ 9810 State RD 72. We ask that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or OACUSA.org a ministry Jeff supported. A separate service will be in held in Austin after the first of the year.
