Wayne Godfrey Obituary

Wayne was born Dec. 13, 1952, in Logan, Utah, to Jesse William and Dorreen Sperry Godfrey. He Married Elizabeth Mathilda Riddle and was married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on March 18, 1981.
He strongly believed in education and had degrees in secondary ed., elementary ed. and early childhood development. For 28 years he worked as a civilian contracting officer for the U.S. Air Force, receiving countless awards for his outstanding service and dedication to his job.
Those who know Wayne know of his talents with wood. He made bunk beds and picture frames along with many other items that were always admired and that he loved to make. He always enjoyed bike riding, a good basketball game, singing and watching football. Providing any service was his greatest talent and favorite pastime.
He is survived by his parents and wife Liz; eight daughters and six grandchildren which he loved dearly: April Haley and her children LaNea and KayteLynn, Hayley (Tyler) Roberts and their children Emma and Paul, Jennifer (Daniel) and their children Luther and Daniel Jr., Robin, Holly, Callie, Jessie and Kodie; four brothers, Norman (Vicki), LaRon (Ann), Kim (Ann) and Terry (Carrie) Godfrey; and sisters Bonnie (Gordon) Mendelkow and Connie (Duffy) McFarland.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in the Clarkston Ward building, 25 E. 100 South in Clarkston, his hometown. Viewings for family and friends will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Services will conclude with burial in the Clarkston Cemetery under the direction of Serenicare Funeral Home of Providence, Utah.
We would like to add a special thanks for the great care of hospice, all our neighbors and friends both far and near - from Utah to Ohio, Alaska, Japan, Texas, Idaho - and all our friends in between. Thank you.

My condolences to you for the loss of Wayne. I played alot of ball with him growing up in Clarkston. He was always fun loving but wanted to do his best. Of course the knowledge we have is what gets us through these times and I hope that you all feel the love of our Heavenly Father and feel the influence of Wayne throughout your lives.

I am sending Wayne's entire family my deepest sympathy. I want to share with you my great respect for him. He was my boss at the Randolph Air Force Specialized Contracting office. He is the wisest, gentlest man I have ever met. He truly lived a life serving God with his actions. He brought peace to a workplace through his example and counsel. He kept pictures of all his beautiful daughters on his desk. I thank Liz for sending delicious homemade treats to the office. Wayne leaves behind him a legacy of God's work, and I can appreciate how much his family misses him. With deepest respect and sympathy, Linda

On behalf of the Elbert and Abbie Godfrey family we send our sincere condolences to each of you. Jesse and Dorreen, Liz and children, and all of the Godfrey cousins. How well we remember Wayne as a delightful young boy in Clarkston when we came to visit. Elbert, Abbie, and children Gover & Alice, who died as babies, Richard & his wife Clare, plus their deaf son Steven are all buried in the Clarkston cemetery -- which makes 6 generations there of Godfreys. So what a reunion with Grandpa Zeke, Grandma Agnes, Grandpa John E. & Lydia Gover Godfrey, John & Mary Pittaway Godfrey, and Thomas & Elizabeth Ainge Godfrey, plus many more aunts, uncles cousins as well as friends. It is a sacred resting place and we revere the memory of all who have gone before. May the peace of the Gospel of Jesus Christ sustain you. Sincerly, Alan & Elinor Hyde - Salt Lake; Rodney & Joann Jackson -- Centerville, UT; Paul & Karin Godfrey -- San Jose, CA; Dennis & Amye Godfrey -- Glendale, AZ; David & JoAnn Loughney -North Logan; and Margaret Lent -- St. George.
