John Scott Obituary

JOHN HENRY SCOTT, JR., departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2002. Born in Houston, Texas on December 16, 1947, John attended Houston public schools and graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1966. He was previously employed as a mechanic for Houston METRO and later as a Metrolift driver. At the time of his death, he was employed by Riviana Foods. He was a longtime member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, and later joined Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church where he remained an active member until his death. John leaves to cherish his memory his paternal aunt and surrogate mother, Inez G. Backstrom; his wife, Augustine Marks Scott, two sons, Brian Dwyane Scott and Russell Elton Scott; sisters Doris Raspberry (Sacramento, CA), and Gwendolyn E. Scott; brother Willie Earl Scott, all of Houston and a host of relatives and friends. Wake service will be on Friday, August 30, 2002 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCoy and Harrison Funeral Home, 4918 Martin Luther King Blvd., Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 6918 Del Rio, Houston, Texas followed by interment at Paradise North Cemetery.

My deepest condolences and prayers go out to John's family. As a teenager, I remember him and Hunt together always. They lived around the corner from me and would come over or pass by.
