Mark Peters Obituary

Peters, Mark Allen April 7, 1964 - January 5, 2012 Mark Allen Peters, 47, passed away January 5, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann of 10 years, son Danny, and son Sean. His father Daniel Peters is a long time resident of San Gabriel and his mother-in-law, Mary Sullivan is a long time resident of Sierra Madre. His passing was preceded by the passing of his mother, Jean Peters, 3 years ago. Mark was a kind, loving, devoted husband, father, brother to Mike (Atala), Susan (Jim), Shelley (Don), and Sharon and brother-in-law to Noreen and Sharon. He was an extraordinary uncle and friend to his 10 nieces and nephews, Katie (Brian), Matthew (Ashley), Lee, Stephen, Elizabeth, Michael, Caitlyn, Alex, Aine, and Fiona. Mark touched the lives of so many, always lit the room with his infectious smile, had a great sense of humor and was a friend to all. As a native Californian, he was born in Glendale and graduated from San Gabriel High School in 1982, where he also lettered by playing on the golf team. He worked at Marie Callender's, San Gabriel, while he attended Cal State University of Long Beach, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting. From there he was employed with the IRS for approximately 10 years, until he took over as President/General Manger of American Scale Company, allowing his father to retire. He was an avid UCLA fan & football season ticket holder, enjoyed watching football with his family and friends and was a big fan of the LA Dodgers. Mark also had a passion for gardening and the horse races with his father-in-law, horse trainer John Sullivan who passed away 5 years ago. He, his wife and boys enjoyed traveling and visited Rome, Spain, Hawaii, family in Ireland and other interesting locations. He will be greatly missed by all. A mass and memorial service will be held at 11AM on January 17th at St. Rita Parish Church, 318 N. Baldwin Ave., Sierra Madre, CA, 91024-1203. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established for Danny and Sean Peters. Please send all donations to St. Rita School, 322 N. Mary Ann,
I am sorry to write so late, but we just heard about this tragic news. We are so deeply sorry for your loss and the loss of your boys. Though we knew Mark for only a short time, we came to know him as a great great man. Mark was always willing to volunteer and help in any way he could with the Green Lanterns during the soccer season. He had a genuine smile and we could tell he loved you all very very much. May your guardian angel rest in peace and may his love always fill your hearts. May God bless you all.
Love,
Coach David, Jennifer, David, and Nathan Ramirez

On behalf of the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, I would like to extend our condolences to the family of Mark Peters. I have had the pleasure of working with Mark and was deeply affected on the news regarding his passing. He was too young!. Mark was extremely cordial in our business dealings, very approachable, like we were going on a fishing trip. To you, Mark, I thank God for knowing you. Rest in peace, my friend.
