Michael Kraft Obituary

Michael Anthony Kraft

Louisville - Michael Anthony Kraft, 52, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 25, 2019.

He was born in Louisville to Ramsey and Carol Kraft on June 22, 1966. He was married to Allison Anderson on July 29, 1989. Together they had a beautiful life with two daughters, Shelby Kraft Hyman and Lindsey Kraft.

Michael will be remembered as someone who made an irreplaceable mark on the lives of everyone who crossed his path. He had the ability to light up a room with his radiant spirit and witty humor. Above all, he never lost his faith and was always determined to serve as an inspiration to others who were fighting cancer. Michael was an inspiration to us all.

He was a co-owner of Nanz and Kraft Florist with his two brothers, Eddie and David Kraft. The florist was founded in 1850. He was a former President of the St. Mathews Business Association. He enjoyed traveling with his family, cooking, being with friends, skiing in Colorado, and supporting the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. "He always favored the winning team and was known to flip hats in the middle of a game." He was a graduate of Trinity High School and the University of Kentucky.

He is survived by his loving wife, Allison Anderson Kraft and daughters Shelby Kraft Hyman (Alex) and Lindsey Kraft. He is also survived by his parents Carol and Ramsey Kraft, brothers Eddie (Sharon) Kraft, David (Susan) Kraft, as well as his in-laws Brenda and John Anderson, and his nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Monday Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation 1-4 pm Sunday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane.

Today I was at Nanz and Kraft with my mom, ordering flowers for my dad's funeral. When I asked Pat about Michael I was surprised and saddened by the news of his death. He was such a kind person, full of joy. My condolences to his entire family. My brother and I went to school with Michael at Holy Trinity. Prayers for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Micheal. He was a mover and a shaker working there at Nanz and Kraft. He definely lit up a room and was always so gracious to me anytime I came in to buy flowers. He will be missed and may God bless his family and friends. Again I'm so sorry for your loss! Sincerely Ellen Durham

To the Kraft Family, Our sincere condolences. Michael helped my sister and I create a casket spray when our mom died last year. He was so kind and wonderful. He knew we wanted something special and he took us in the back and let us pick out the flowers used. He told us to "trust him" as he knew what we wanted and it was absolutely beautiful. It was a very special moment during a hard time and we remember him fondly. I am sure we aren't the only customers - probably everyone had this experience with him. We will never forget his kindness. Sincerely, Cheryl Henson and Lisa Alexander

My siblings and I will never forget the kindness, tenderness and compassion that Michael showed us in June 2007 when the four of us walked into Nanz & Kraft to pick out the floral arrangements for our mom's service. We lost her two weeks after she was told she had pancreatic cancer. We were in shock and devastated and didn't have a clue what we are doing. The entire process was extremely emotional and foreign to us and Michael gently carried us through it. He took care of the whole thing, picking out the flowers and making sure we got the special urns for the church. He hugged and comforted us while we cried and he helped us get through one of the worst days of our lives. He was an angel on earth to us that day. I don't remember much from that week but I will always remember how loving Michael Kraft was to the Beaver's. (Katie, Beth, Trip and Scott)

Please know that the entire Kraft family is in our hearts and prayers. I am so very sorry for your loss and I pray that the memories you have and the ones others give you of Michael help ease your pain in the coming days and months.

Love,

Katie Beaver Pehlke

Sending all who loved him warmest thoughts and prayers. I am so very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Michael a few years ago. I was in Louisville visiting customers, I am in the flower industry, and he was such a wonderful host. He drove me and my coworker all thru the city. Even stopping for us to walk down a beautiful street with beautiful trees (it was fall). He took us to lunch at one of his favorite spots. He made conversations so easy and was very witty and had a great sense of humor. We went by Churchill Downs too. Later on he even put money down on a horse for me. What a wonderful guy. You could just tell. He had a wonderful spirit. He spoke fondly of his family, and when he did his face just lit up. I feel honored to have crossed paths with Michael. And will always cherish my time spent with him in Louisville. May he Rest In Peace. Crystal Edwards , Miami Fl
