Jaynie Brown Obituary

Jaynie Kellett Reed Brown, of Baton Rouge, was born May 10, 1956 and died peacefully November 14, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Bonnie Wayne Reed and Anna Merle Cox Reed. She is survived by her husband R. Thomas Brown III, her nephew/son Steven Wayne Reed and fiancée Sheela Chutz, and her niece/daughter Anna Reed Kazanis and son-in-law Lucas Kazanis, all of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her faithful Cairn Terrier companion, Clancy Brown. Jaynie was born in Lubbock, TX and moved to Mandeville, LA at an early age, where she grew up and graduated from Mandeville High. She attended LSU and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. She was a quick-witted person whose penchant for grammar and precision set her up for success in the Baton Rouge Marketing and Public Relations community. She worked with the likes of H.J. Wilson, X Design/Martin Flanagan, Mabyn Shingleton and Diane Allen before settling in with The General Health System and focusing on healthcare marketing. It wasn't until later in life that she met and married R. Thomas Brown III, a local businessman/entrepreneur, and together they purchased Advanced Sealing International, a small manufacturing company. This afforded Jaynie the opportunity to retire at an early age and pursue the finer things in life, such as travel, entertainment, family and friends. In her years as a self-proclaimed "Full-time Domestic Goddess" she could often be found working the Advocate Crossword over seafood cannelloni at Gino's, sipping chardonnay in her backyard overlooking the Baton Rouge Country Club golf course, and adventuring around the world with Thomas. Those adventures took her to many places throughout America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific Rim. She was an accomplished, if sometimes reluctant, world traveler. Jaynie had an infectious smile and was a warm friend to many. She was loved by those who knew her well. There will be a memorial gathering to celebrate her life on Monday, November 21st at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (Government St.) from 3 – 7 pm. Please join the family to share memories of good times with Jaynie. The family will conduct a private burial at a later date. Flowers are welcome but in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jaynie's name to the Baton Rouge Food Bank, The LSU School of Journalism, or the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. Jaynie was a very special person; we loved her and miss her a lot…

I´m so sad to learn of Jaynie passing. We met working at General Health. I loved seeing her around town, mostly at the grocery store. We both enjoy cooking, exchanging recipes and our dogs. She was always a joy and will surely be missed. Prayers of comfort for you, Thomas.

I met Jaynie over 20 years ago at General Health. She was intelligent, beautiful and smart smart as a whip! So much fun too. She always added value to everything - whether it was a work project or a hallway conversation. And that fabulous smile! It was always there. She will be missed!

May your memories give you peace and comfort of your loved one. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for the loss of your loved one. May GOD be with you all during this difficult time. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus.

Jaynie was a dear friend and adventurer. She was always at the ready for finding something new to do and I was pleased to spend many of those adventures with her. Her tasteful decorating style made a beautiful home both in BR and NO that we enjoyed with her and Thomas many times over amazing meals that she so skillfully and lovingly cooked. I loved her and already miss her .
