Paul Davis Obituary

Paul Howard Davis, age 83, died in Midland, Texas, on March 1, 2018. A resident of Midland for almost 50 years, he was a petroleum engineer for Texaco and then Williamson Petroleum before his retirement. Paul was born in Pauline, Kansas, on July 26, 1934 and maintained his ties there by actively managing his wheat farm in western Kansas throughout his life. He was a 1951 graduate of Topeka High School, and subsequently volunteered for the Army, where his skills in math and engineering were well recognized. After being honorably discharged from the service, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1961, which launched his distinguished career as a registered petroleum engineer. That career allowed him, with his family and friends, to pursue his love of flying as a private pilot, river rafting in the Rio Grande, rebuilding and enjoying sports cars, watching the Sooners win, and traveling. Paul is survived by his wife of three years, June Scruggs Davis; his children, Susan (Don) Davis Jeffers, Mark Lloyd Davis, and Sarah Jo Hartman; and by his grandchildren, Dave Jeffers, Caroline Davis, Andrew Davis, Christopher Davis, Sam Hartman, and Phoebe Hartman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Adrian and Anna Klein Davis, and his siblings Helen, Lester, and Ruth Davis. Paul will be laid to rest at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Dodge, Kansas, on March 5, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Paul's honor to the VFW Foundation, https://www.vfw.org/foundation/foundation-donate.
