Andrew left his earthly home on May 26, 2019, while doing what he loved best, camping in his happy place. Andrew leaves behind his long-time girlfriend, Nicole Bratton and their 4 cats, Oliver, Abbigayle, Lucien and Mr. Marbles; Mother, Cindy Blumenthal; Father, David Blumenthal; his best friend and Sister, Catherine Cato; brother-in-love, Jamie Cato; his nephew- the apple of his eye, Carter "the Tornado" Cato; grandmother, Jerri L. Blumenthal; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that he greatly loved. Andrew was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Morris D. Blumenthal, Jr and Raymond E. Watts, Sr; and his grandmother, Rebecca A.Watts. Andrew attended Vestavia Hills High School and was a member of the Rebels football team; he graduated from Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida, where he also played football. Andrew studied building sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he played Defensive End on the UMass football team. He loved The Alabama Crimson Tide, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Rays. He possessed a deep sense of wonder and curiosity. Andrew also loved libraries and never quit learning. He worked at DRP Company, and in a testament to his courage, strength and resilience Andrew received both his Contractors and Real Estate License in the State of Florida. Andrew suffered from the most painful disease known to man, RSD/CRPS, for the last 6 years; yet always had a smile for everyone. Kindness and patience was his mantra. He had the biggest heart of anyone and always made time for a "hello, how are YOU" for everyone he met. He had a special place in his heart for animals, the weak and helpless. Andrew loved his family, his girlfriend, and friends. He was a hero to many of us. His toughness, coupled with kindness will leave an unmatched legacy for us all. Family and friends gathered for a time of visitation and a service to celebrate Andrews's life on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, Alabama. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Andrew's memory to Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA) at www.rsds.org.

Not sure what to say?

Andrew, I cant believe its been a year already. When I think of you, I think of the bond you and Cat had, how much you two loved each other, it was a bond even death can not break. I am thankful for the years I was blessed to have known you. You were truly an amazing human being and you had the best bear hugs. You are missed, but I know that you no longer live in the tremendous pain your physical body was burdened with. Keep a watch over Cat! Love you little brother!

Cindy, my prayers are with you and your family during this time. May you receive strength from Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Just remember that Earth has no Sorrows that Heaven cannot heal.
