Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Uncle,
Friend, Teacher, Mentor, Musician, Artist
It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of our dearly loved Blair. He gave so much wisdom, strength and courage during his 2 year journey living with ALS. He passed with peace and acceptance and a smile on his face.
Blair was a proud and loving father to his 12 year old son Max. They shared a deep appreciation for listening and creating music together and had many many hours of true connection with song and word. For 23 years, Blair shared his life with his wife, best friend and soul mate Cathy Silversides. He was dearly loved and will be forever missed by his parents Arnold and Anne Polischuk and brother Darrin Polischuk and wife Paulina. He will be fondly remembered as "awesome Uncle Blair" by all his nieces and nephews (Amanda, Jessica, Jay, Niko and Kyra). His quick and often quirky sense of humor was always understood and well appreciated by his sisters-in-law Karen Christie and husband Wade and Linda Davidson and husband Rick as well as his mother and father in-law Pat & Dave Silversides.
Blair was a wonderful storyteller and captivated all his friends during our many neighborhood dinner "clan" parties. Good food, good drinks and beautiful conversations we all shared will be forever remembered.
Blair was passionate about everything he thought, did and said. He was intensely curious and fully embraced so many different joys in life: music, photography, business & marketing, teaching, cooking, bonsai, skiing, nature, fatherhood and friendship.
Blair was so grateful for all the care received from his Angels which include his "assistants: Dana and Tammie, his Vancouver team at the ALS Clinic (Brigitte, Gwyn, Amy, Dr. Briemberg), his therapists at home (Shannon, Jen, Carol, Meg) and his physicians Dr. Konway and Dr. Fehlau. Thank you for your expertise, wisdom and care.
We will forever miss you Blair, but take comfort in knowing you are with us, everywhere. We wish him best light and the good feel of musical rhythm forever. We love you, always.
There will be a Gathering for Blair on Thursday September 6th at 3pm at the Union Bay Community Hall. Please join us. All are welcome. In lieu of gifts, donations can be made to the ALS Society of BC.
This obituary was originally published in the Comox Valley Echo (Courtenay, BC).

I recently learned from Gabe Hernandez Jr. of Blair's passing. He was always a wealth in information and fresh ideas about our shared photobooth business endeavor. As an Alaskan I felt he always connected with me, maybe it was our shared borders, but I would like to think it was our shared passion for enjoying others laughter. Even though we never actually met I will miss our semi-annual chats and laughs. You are in my thoughts and prayers

Dear Ann, Arnold & Darren,
I was Blairs grade 12 grad escort and am shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. Strangely so, I happened upon a website last year that linked to his name, we had a quick "hello, it's been a long time" email. I thought of him often and wondered what great things life chose for him. I was fortunate to have him cross my path of life. My sincere sympathy to you all.

I am so, so sad about the news of Blair's illness and passing. I haven't seen him for many years, but I remember the deep love he had for his family and his determination to fulfill the dreams he had for his future. From what I've read and seen, he faced this tragic disease with courage and grace. I think of him every day and I am so grateful to him for reminding me to not waste a minute or an opportunity to learn and create. I thank him every day for this gift.

Cathy, my heart goes out to you and Max and your families and friends. I feel so fortunate to have known Blair for so many years and am remembering his love of life, his sense of humour and the beautiful photography that he created. I think about him everyday and his art hangs in every room in my house. I will miss him dearly and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Cathy, my thoughts and wishes are with you and Max. I am sorry for the loss not only of your husband Cathy, and of your Dad, Max, but of your best friend. I will miss running into Blair at Circle Craft, where I would not only marvel at his astoundingly beautiful artwork, but also enjoy our "groovy eye-wear mutual admiration society" quips. ( I like the ones he has on in the great portrait of him that you've chosen for this guest book!).
