David Christian Hoffman was born on July 13, 1955, and passed away on December 15, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. Having a free and adventurous spirit, his was one that approached life's challenges with great courage, always fighting to the very end. In short, David truly radiated a heartfelt zest for life. Spiritually, David was baptized into the Christian faith on October 21, 1955, and again in his adult life; however, as David aged, his belief system became more earth-based and accepting of the Divine in all things. Still, David proclaimed his love, honor, and admiration for Jesus Christ and regularly showed compassion and kindness toward the downtrodden. He loved and respected all living things, especially animals such as tropical birds and his two parakeets, Elvis and Nevaeh. David held a childlike fascination for dragons. As a gifted and inspiring photographer and artist, David networked with others skilled in the craft through his memberships in the Professional Photographers of America and Phoenix Professional Photographers Associations. David also enjoyed cooking and won many chili and chicken "cook-off" contests in Georgia. Some say David was a genius with computers as he worked in the field of Information Technology for over 28 years for such prestigious corporations as Scottsdale Healthcare, Mckesson, the Atlanta Regional Commission, and ARCO Alaska, Inc. David was a dedicated employee and team player. David lived the first 16 years of his life in Brookpark, Ohio, and moved to Greenville South Carolina, with his family in June of 1971. There he graduated from Southside High School in 1973. David then joined the Army and served as a SP4 military photographer for three years in Anchorage, Alaska. After returning to Greenville for a few years, David moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1985, and then to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2001, where he lived until his passing. David is survived by his parents, John and Delores Hoffman; siblings John and Gail Hoffman; daughter, Chloe Reavis; nephews and nieces, Justin Kahler, Jason Hoffman, and Jennifer Pool; uncle, Ronald Brunst; cousins, Debbie D'Alessandro, Lisa Stazione, Karen Searle, Bruce Cornwell; and, their spouses, children, and grandchildren. The Samaritan Funeral Home in Phoenix, Arizona, cared for David after his passing in Scottsdale. The family will lay him to rest in the historic Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.
